HLPS emphasizes the positive aspects of life, through prayer, advertising and community activities.

Prayer

Members and friends of HLPS meet every Thursday in various churches in Hobart and Launceston to pray for mothers and unborn babies. In addition, times of prayer are scheduled throughout the year for the dying. You are warmly invited to attend this prayer.

Members and friends of HLPS are encouraged to pray frequently for mothers and unborn children. The following prayers are advocated by the society:

Psalm 139

For it was you who created my being, knit me together in my mother’s womb. I thank you for the wonder of my being, for the wonders of all your creation. Already you knew my soul, my body held no secret from you when I was being fashioned in secret and moulded in the depths of the earth.   

Prayer for the Unborn Child

Heavenly Father send Your Holy Spirit to renew our love.
Watch over the stirrings of life in the womb and bring it to fruition.
May it suffer no untimely birth at nature’s whim nor violence at our hands.
Let every human life show forth the Creator’s love and strengthen the human family.
Made in your image, let each person thrive and come to fullness in due time.
We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen

HLPS makes sure that its positive message about life is continually present in the community, as a sign of hope for all and solidarity for those who already recognize the importance of human life. The society publishes messages against abortion and euthanasia in daily newspapers and parish newsletters. The society also has large advertisements on buses in Hobart and Launceston promoting its prayer for mothers and unborn babies. Several radio stations in Hobart promote this prayer in their community announcements.

True Love Waits

HLPS members believe that positive and chaste relationships are an excellent building block in developing respect for life in the community. HLPS therefore promotes the True Love Waits movement. True Love Waits (TLW) promotes chastity in order to strengthen marriage and family life.  TLW members and friends meet regularly to pray together. Information and referral

Members of HLPS are available 24hrs a day to provide information and/or referral regarding positive life issues. Please phone (03) 6224 2632 if you require pro-life information on:

‘Precious Feet’ badges

HLPS sells and distributes tiny ‘precious feet’ badges that can be worn as a positive pro-life sign. These badges are the exact size and shape of a 10 week old fetus. The badges cost $2 and can be purchased by phoning (03) 6224 2632.

Natural Family Planning

HLPS supports information evenings on Natural Family Planning. Please phone the society on  (03) 6224 2632 for details of the next information session.

Home for pregnant women

In the future, the society aims to establish a home for pregnant women in need.
